August Mood '24

Welcome, August alongside an abundance of ripe local vegetables and fruits. August truly is the month of harvest bringing us the bounty of the season and a chance to soak up summer for a while longer. We know the summer is still going strong and that it's treasured here in Manitoba where we endure many months of winter. But without trying to ruin the party, we have done our best to balance staying in the present with starting to slightly look ahead for this months mood. We are sharing a pretty special place with you all, which you would like to book soon, if you want a chance to experience it this fall. Further more, we'll soon reveal news from Blu Dot that you may or may not want to consider updating and readying your home with for our long cozy season. That said, there are however also lots of in-the-now features relishing in what August has to offer. So, please read on and enjoy.

Her embroidered pieces combine art with functionality and her pieces stand out for their beauty, but also for the stories told through fabric and thread. Her work is found through her studio Oeuvres Sensibles and she drives  inspiration from small details to moments, memories and feelings. She claims herself to be quite a nostalgic person thinking back to or reliving happy moments. We say keep that up, because her table, kitchen and living room wares are incredible pieces of art.

Peach & Brussel Sprout Salad
August is the month of peaches and what better way to indulge in this fruit than with this refreshing salad. We'll be serving it with barbecued chicken or steak and maybe we'll throw some garden grown small and delicate zucchinis on the barbecue as well. This salad is crunchy, creamy, sweet and salty thanks to the Brussel sprouts, poppy seed dressing, salty nuts and obviously, the sweet and delicious peaches. The perfect combo!
