    What We Do

    What We Do

We are about more than just furniture and design; we are interested in culture, collaboration, community, and creativity.

We truly value the importance of good design. We actively collaborate with the local architecture and design community, as well as work alongside talented artisans and designers. Together, we aim to bring great design to our local community.

We believe that our environment has a significant impact on our lives and good design through architecture, furniture, and lighting, can enhance our well-being and improve the quality of our lives.

    What's in a Name?

    What's in a Name?

Hut K was founded by an Architecture Program graduate from the University of Manitoba in the 1980s. Initially a woodworking company called Hut J—named after the old army barracks on campus. Over time, as the business grew and diversified its furniture offerings, the name naturally progressed to the next letter in the alphabet, K.

Occasionally, former students from that era will visit and recognize the name.

Hut K has been located in the Winnipeg's Exchange District since 2011, before moving to Grant Avenue upon changing ownership, where you can find us today!
