March Mood '25

This issue is oozing of spring. Yes, we are starting to feel the itch for it. March is here and fingers crossed, hopefully we will see spring arrive this month in Manitoba. Hence, in hope, we've packed this month's mood full teasers of spring such as crunchy salads, light and airy interior design projects, festive and springy DIY projects and more. Do you have the itch as well? Read on for a healthy dose of medicine.

Wedge Design Studio
The founders, Sarah Di Domenico and Justin Lortie, drew on Danish design  and ways of working and living when designing their studio's office space. High on their priority list was to create a space with a homey and relaxing atmosphere for themselves and their team members. They wanted a sense of communal feeling. A task they executed splendidly when they turned this brick house into their office and studio. They collaborated with Montreal based interior design studio Vives St-Laurant as well as with Thom Fougere when designing and executing the project. It's come together beautifully and quite honestly looks like a dream place to work.

Alice Herbst
Alice has a special trick up her sleeve for her artworks. She creates a set for her paintings using existing objects alongside props created out of cardboard and fabric. And she's often also modelling for the painting as well. The interesting part is that she allows the props to still look like props nudging the viewer to explore further into the painting. It's a fascinating way of approaching art and you could say she almost works as a set designer. In a way she is combining interior design/decorating with painting. Her pieces are in our opinion beautiful and unique and have made it on to our artwork wish list.

Carl Hansen New Launch Sneak Peek
In just a matter of days Carl Hansen & Son are launching two new items; A wall mounted desk By Anker Bak and a round extendable dining table by Børge Mogensen. Both products are developed with a smaller living space in mind and the items are as per usual beautifully crafted with great attention to details. Make sure to check out New & Notable on our site on March 3rd for full details on the items.

Beet & Apple Salad
It almost feels like spring is in the air which has us craving something fresh and crunchy. Beets and apples are still in season so we'll opt for this salad to go along with our next steak/chicken/fish meal. The salad has a hint of Middle Eastern flavours thanks to the cumin, parsley and lemon and a little peppery kick from the Swedish turnip. It pairs deliciously well with any meat or could be served with pita bread and hummus for a vegetarian course.

RCMP
Developed by Festif using their own Montreal hand-crafted and award-winning Amaro, the RCMP is citrusy and smooth, and a Canadian spin on an Army & Navy cocktail. David, who is the man behind the cocktail and Festif, has nearly 20 years of experience crafting cocktails so we're confident you are in for a real treat with this one.
