The House At Lizard Island
Designed by JDA Co., The House at Lizard Island aims to be "the greatest reef house in the world." Located in the Great Barrier Reef, it balances minimal environmental impact with lasting strength. Inspired by the island's geology and marine life - especially the stingrays nearby - the architecture is both grounded and fluid. Inside, the rosewood timber and copper bring warmth, while a curving Emerald Quartzite kitchen bench, reminiscent of a conch shell, reflects the soft greens of the surrounding reef - blending the home seamlessly with nature.

A hidden gem in West L.A., tucked away on a vine-covered lot, the Mar Vista House by Hopson Rodstrom Design is a quiet stunner. What was once a humble post-war bungalow has been thoughtfully transformed into a light filled, layered retreat that feels both modern and timeless. With a raw, tactile mix of timber, concrete, and glass, the design lets natural materials do the talking - shaping the mood, the flow, and every sun drenched corner. The result? Based in sunny Byron Bay, artist and maker Bianca Pintan has spent the last six years sculpting, carving, and painting ceramics that are anything but ordinary. Her signature? Every piece is a labour of love, shaped with intention and finished when it just feels right (because somehow, Bianca just knows). After studying architecture at the University of Montreal, Marie-Claire Blais turned her focus to visual art, bringing a deep sensitivity to space and movement into her practice. Her work spans various mediums - sculpture, installation, drawing - and explores how we experience and remember physical space.
