Canadian designer, Philippe Malouin's Bilboquet is a playful, adaptable table lamp consisting of two colourful cylinders connected by a magnetic sphere. This sphere acts as a joint, allowing the diffuser and the lamp's body to connect, enabling the upper cylinder to float and rotate to direct light flow in all directions.
Designed with millennials and Gen Z in mind, Designer Malouin highlights the importance of flexibility and creative communities in the lamp's development.
Inspired by a French game that originated in the 16th century, from which the designer derived its name. In addition to its adjustable diffuser, the cable can either be left loose or neatly concealed in a special housing beneath the base.
"Simple in appearance but full of personality, Bilboquet is an adjustable table lamp that allows you to direct light in a playful yet precise manner. Taking cues from magnetic ball joints, Bilboquet offers a full range of movement for a variety of functions. Whether used as a task light on a desk, or to provide a soft glow against a wall, or directed at a good book, Bilboquet shines light where it is needed.”
