First designed and in production since 1975, the curious shape and design of the AOY table lamp adds a touch of contemporary style to any home it is placed in.
The modern table lamp comprises of a clear glass cylindrical outer body. There is a white opal glass diffuser/reflector placed inside on the top part of the body. The light is made from hand-blown glass parts – there are no metal pieces involved.
The designer who loved cats, created the bottom opening as a place for them to curl up and get warm from the heat of the lamp. This intriguing Achille Castiglioni lamp provides diffused light. Inspiration
Behind the Design: Achille Castiglioni designed this with the clear intention of making full use of the light that usually gets wasted on the stem. His love for cats is clearly visible in this design, the small opening on the bottom provides a warm resting place and it also convenient when trying to clean the area below.
