Our surroundings have a huge impact on our wellbeing, whether it be where we live, work or sleep, its important that these spaces are not only functional but that they make us feel inspired and excited. As Winnipeggers we spend a good portion of the year trying to keep warm inside, and the same way that we all long for a warm winter vacation, its normal to itch for a little bit of refreshment and excitement in the spaces we occupy most to give us some energy and creative spirit for the remainder of the cooler months. We want to share a few ideas that we have to keep your spaces feeling fun and creative in a way that feels personal and natural to you and your space.

I live in a smaller house and decorating it has given me both lots of joy and also moments where I really had to scratch my head in terms of furniture placing. Who else can relate? Lots of space and a bigger house sounds fantastic, but realistically speaking many of us live in a smaller footprint home. We want to maximize our space without compromising design and comfort, but how do we decorate a small space to make it feel spacious and stylish all at the same time?

Time for part two- the primary bedroom! We didn't do anything major in here aside from filling in the built-in wardrobe that was so high up you couldn't even reach anything anyways. Plus this felt like the only somewhat logical spot for a tv in the bedroom so we put it on mount that allows us to watch from bed or the sofa. Eventually we'd like to open up that wall cavity either from the side and just have some open shelves or we'll open it up from the other side of the wall in our en suite- to be determined!

Last month we skipped town and spent 72 hours in Manhattan visiting some of our favourite brands, eating and drinking all kinds of delicious things and simply viewing all of the beautiful things New York has to offer. Below is a recap of some highlights and places to add to your own itineraries if planning a visit in the near future!

A while back Design Shop reached out to us as they had taken on the project of furnishing this stunner of a house. As a Winnipeg based business, they thought it would be nice to source as much as possible locally - Which we of course are super happy about. The project is now wrapped up and we are very excited to share the finished result with you.
